Our Pledge

THE FRIENDSHIP FORCE PLEDGE
As a member of the Friendship Force,
I recognize that I can make a difference.
I recognize that I have a mission. That
mission is to be a friend to the people
of the world. As I embark on this
adventure, I know that others will be
watching me. I know that through my
example to my fellow citizens and the
people of other nations, the cause of
friendship, love, and peace can be
furthered. I CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Brief History of Our Club

The Greater Sacramento Chapter of Friendship Force was founded in 1988 by Helmut Schroeder. Helmut talked to friends, co-workers, and even relatives to form the nucleus of a dozen or so interested parties. The first outbound exchange was to Bogota, Colombia. The first club we hosted was from Arnhem, the Netherlands. Over the years we have hosted clubs from Japan, Chile, Italy, England, Germany, Kyrgystan, Costa Rica, Turkey, Hungary, Australia, New Zealand and Russia. We have traveled as a club to Australia, New Zealand, Japan, England, Hungary, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Chile and Sweden. In 2007 we have hosted clubs from Richmond, VA, and Campinas, Brazil. We had an outbound trip to Vogtland and Gelsenkirchen, Germany. In 2008 we went to Nepal and India  in March, Romania in May and received the San Diego club in April and The Sunshine Coast of Australia  in late August. In 2009 we are going to San Diego in January and New Zealand and New Caledonia in the Fall, and hosting Vogtland, Germany, in April. The Dallas club will visit in late summer 2009. From the first group of 12 our membership has grown 10 fold. We look forward to many years of making new friends around the world and hopefully these friendships will help bring the peace we all pray for. We are always looking for new members. If this has interest for you please contact Glendena Honeick, our membership director at friendshipforcesac@me.com.
